Spreadsheet help !

#1

Post by ecogeorge »

I run a simple spreadsheet on my chromebook (think its called sheets) of my electricity consumption.
i record day & night use periodically and have colums showing total day/night/ per day etc.
I want to add a column showing rolling anual consumption based on last 365 days so i can hopefully see my anual reduction when i add new figures..
Any spreadsheet gurus here ??

Sounds similar to what I have. A weekly Excel log going back nearly 15 years giving me, amongst other things, rolling 52 week consumption.

However the word 'periodically' might complicate things.

Would be happy to have a look at your spreadsheet.

PM me if you want.

mine is just a sum:
=(D6-D2)/(A6-A2) where D is the current month's meter reading and A is the meter reading date. Except the lower number is the cell row a year or two above this month's. I watch 2- and 3-year moving averages too because the weather is so inconsistent...
Another way I do it is [C227]=AVERAGE(B216:B227) where (in that spreadsheet) the column B is the monthly rainfall
A

If you share a link to the spreadsheet by DM I’d be happy to do it for you…

3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

That’s why I only do monthly readings manually. The rest is done at 5 second intervals into an influx db. I’ve never had the time to get any useful summaries. Also the flakey WiFi in the garage means I frequently lose data. One day I’ll sort it out.

Are you on a Mac using numbers or pc and excel?

Excel and Windows.

My spreadsheet is manual entry, with readings taken on Sunday evenings. If I am away, a pro-rata reading is entered. for annual averages, a little bit of inaccuracy does not matter.
However, now that I have a smart meter, I can download half hourly data and computer weekly cumulative meter readings and enter those if I want to.

Electricity consumption is very volatile as I have solar panels and an EV.
I can compare heating season gas consumption with degree day data and work out the correlation. The slope has got lower over the years but improvement is now slower.

I've done it! Well 2 versions with slightly different logic. Was more complicated than I thought it was going to be!

Being a Google Doc it is easy to share by posting a link on here so anyone with the link can view the document. However it is George's data so that bit is up to him...
