Window tape

Hi guys,
Its been blowing a hoolie and I have felt/heard a couple of air puffs at window seals. Wondering if their is a stick on maleable 1 or 2mm deep tape that I could apply to the exisiting seals? The windows are about 12 years old and in good condition. Thought i'd look into this before changing out full seals as its only on a couple with long hinge gaps. Cheers!

Found this. Id rather it had been 6mm wide so i'll stanley it and end up with 100mtrs.

Have a good look at the hinges and latch/catch mechanisms and see if it possible to adjust them to pull the opening windows in a bit tighter against the seals. Some you can tweak, some you can't.

They have the little roller cams for allun key adjustment. Also tilt & turns and I think just a touch too far hinge separation when really blowing. It's more something I hear than feel when close to one window and also a door too.

Got to keep up with the 'air leak controlled home'.

All our windows are seized open to a certain amount because the salty air has corroded the lock mechanisms over winter and it’s impossible to fully latch them - Once a year I try to free as many as possible and get them working again but year by year this gets less successful.

I’m contemplating the sash window screw keeps as a retro fit to allow windows to be closed against storm weather but for 95% of the time they are on vent by an inch or so to air the house.

Of course another thing that we really ought think about & service more often are gaskets, be they car type that need "feeding" or fixing.
You just reminded me to go sort our front door, slamming it in the face of door-stepping chancers has taken its toll

Ha ha Mr Gus, doors are what I do twice a year due to expansion and contraction, as you say a very easy adjustment thanks to the design - but often overlooked by the majority. I don't mind windows on the latch but I do enjoy a smooth opening and closing door that latches and locks easily.

Just got to figure out how to mount them because of the step on the window frames from the window, alternatively I was going to use jamming cleats but not sure how to neatly attach the sheet to the window in an aesthetically pleasing way for the boss of the house - but it would be a simple cheap and effective fix for the windows. Modern double glazed frames are ok but the fittings never seem to last very long and at that point they are a lot more difficult to work on than the old wooden window frames

Our windows have inner and outer seals. Found a manufacturer defect on 1 window. A 10mm gap in the outer seal! All big room windows and patio doors now fitted with 1.5mm 10mm wide closed cell foam. Laid it right across the original seals and can feel the difference on closure just in the handle rotation. Supersticky on one side and highly compressible too, the acoustics have changed in room. Very happy. Also found two points on patio doors at door to door flap seal that were air leak paths. Up against the design price point I paid for back in the day. If i added these three leaks together they would be around about a 60mm long seam.Will work through the rest of the house in the coming days.
