I am a HUGE fan of Vanguard S&P500ETF. Sorry to move it away a touch from green. My last set of investment into them has grown 5.9% in just over two months. Overall I am about 115% up on this particular investment over a few years. In saying that i'm in the pan on RDS B so defo fallible. Just throwing out the S&P500 for thought.

Then he asked, "how much is the return ?", "Eh, about 6.5% I replied."

He said, "I'm in, maybe I should be a bit more greener."

Your 91 years old dad, its a long term payback ! :!:

But its 6.5%, how much can I buy ?

So I signed him up for just over 1kW.
Windfarm now 99% full !

And after my usual Sunday afternoon call to my father, he wants to buy more. I didn't even mention it to him, apart from telling him I am going to print off the paperwork for him and post it because he likes something in his hand rather than an online thing.

So he now owns over 2.3kW after a touch of over exaggeration of his usage., or is he finally

Now, if I can only convince him to get a second hand Sofar ME3000SP and 3 x Pylontechs, then I'll switch him to Octopus GO.

I tried to entice my older brother too, but he's stuck in "receiving a paper bill and pay on receipt of bill" land and refuses to change to paperless or to a monthly direct debit.

But I managed to persuade a friend of SWMBO to switch to Octopus and join Ripple, well it wasn't as much persuade as she just wanted to to whatever she could to be green. I visited her house but her roof is a nightmare shape, surrounded by tall trees and only has a small garden so difficult for solar, so I suggested Ripple as a quick win. The bill was in her husbands name but I suggested they changed it into her name because of tax issues. They only managed to change their exiting supplier into her name a few days ago so they almost missed the boat. Anyway they still managed to change to Octopus Energy first, then join Ripple immediately afterwards.

I am now 6 referrals way from the final fourth "Ambassador" medal. :geek:

I had a large proportion of my investments in this ETF for the last few years. Moved partially as a hedge against Brexit-related devaluation of Sterling and Sterling-denominated assets, but also because the US markets historically outperform British markets. And this has done me very well, weathered COVID better and bounced back stronger than UK markets.

However I’ve just reduced this position by half and move the money to a UK FTSE100 ETF because I believe the US markets and the USD are over-valued.

(NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE, YMMV)
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

So on the old forum, my secret list had 7, including us two, the problem is I don't know who everyone is anymore so,

Out of 7 on the old forum, 5 are definitely here because the name is the same or I personally know the name change. The other 2 are either here under aliases or not here anymore or have not found us yet.

At least 2 more on here have joined so its a definite 7 or could be as many as 9. But as I said on the old forum, I guarantee there will be others !

If you are grid tied, have lots of solar and batteries it adds synergy. And if your already with Octopus and charging batteries with off peak cheap rate in the winter its even more of a perfect choice.

At least 9 is good to think of, excellent. Can't pass a WT site now without thinking about 'our's'. :)

I now have 2.609kWh owned with an anticipated 6,972kWh output to my account. I think I might be getting up there for carbon neutral. Epic if that is the case.
