Found the app 'Windy' today. Location to put in is Llanharan Hedreforgan. That puts you in the middle of the windfarm.

Why not give Mart a nudge, he's a local so might fit the bill on both counts.
Sorry mate, missed this completely, and what a coincidence.

Wifey and I (and the dog as well) took TiMmY for a spin on Monday with the plan of taking pics/vid of the WT for you, but utter failure.

First, we weren't sure of the best approach, and as it's a hill, the roads go around it, so one choice looked like we wouldn't get close, so took another route. All went well as we entered the nearby village, and just needed to take a rt turn to head toward the hill ................. oh boy!

The road was narrow with cars parked on both sides. We couldn't turn rt as a van had entered before us but was stuck next to a refuse truck coming out, so no room for us to enter. The truck couldn't leave the road (turning rt) as coming up the road was another refuse truck and the gap was just big enough for a car, but not a truck to squeeze by. The truck coming up couldn't drive past us, because the parked cars meant the cars behind us were in the middle of the road.

The only way to release the blockage was for us to go straight on and breath in as we nearly scraped both sides of the car getting past the second refuse truck, but were then stuck next to it, as traffic ahead was blocked by ...... yep you've guessed it, a third refuse truck, but he wasn't long, just reversing into a school, with just inches to spare on each gate pillar.

So went ahead, found a rt turn, but no way through, couldn't double back because the road was now gridlocked, and couldn't see another route that looked to be more than a farm track.

Also we had an Oh Dear moment whilst scanning the google images on the Tesla's sat nav, we could see about 6 large wind turbines pictured, and realised we had no idea how to work out which one was Ripple's?

By then, sore, tired and hungry, so we decided on a tactical withdraw.

Still, I got to take the new car for a spin and a lovely weather day.

The best-laid plans of mice and men!
Oh my Mart, what a nightmare! A bad enough experience for any motorist let alone in a brand new EV just off the Quay. Good job there was extra headroom clearance in the Y as your stress levels must have been sky high. I can well understand your tactical withdrawal and hope any mental scars remaining heal almost as quickly as when they arrived. Did TiMmY survive intact?
No problem mate, quite an adventure, and everyone was really chilled, I assume they are used to gridlock. But being a new car I was a bit nervous about the dimensions, also the fact that the TMY is apparently about 11cm wider than the TM3, but only 4cm wider including the door mirrors, so it must have wider flanks that curve back in towards the mirror mounts. Knowing that, I was well aware that I didn't exactly know where the edges of the car were, but closer to the outside of the mirrors than I'm used to with our previous cars (Meriva and Zafira) having flat/vertical(ish) sides. So used to be able to assume space under the mirrors, but not so much now.

Head to Cardiff at some point, and we'll track that ugger down together, perhaps next time armed with better directions.

Speaking of, can anyone post a pic/map with a cross for where to head with the car, and also one for the right WT?

The path going South would take you up into the windfarm. Can't say which one is ours. Maybe worth a mail to Ripple gor a grid ref?

That bit of ground is a hardcore based parking area and the path starts right there.

Needing & wanting more investors & PR for this sort of scheme I contacted POW (protect our winters) & Burton Snowboards today, ..they are green advocates & Burton has some dedicated European stores (for when this expands beyond the uk) & holds big presence with specialist stores, ..We want our snowpack back!

Worth trying to get Ripples brand out there if we are to gain awareness & credibility.

Many thanks. Originally we headed for Coedely on the west, but changed our attack to a southern assault via Brynna, but Church St said 'You shall not pass'.

So next time it's a northern offensive, and they won't see us coming in the black car with chrome delete, hell, it's hard enough for us to find the door handles now in the dark!

Sounds like a plan Mart. But surely can't that difficult can it, I mean they got that chuffing great monster of a wind turbine up there on the back of a humungus sized low loader. Or have they somehow managed to cover their tracks in order to keep any potential hostile objectors away! :D
In all seriousness though I do believe it to be on "privately owned farm" so they may not be keen on having multitudes of spectators turning up at all times. I also understand that Ripple are planning an open day when us investors will be invited along for a celebration, so perhaps we just have to be patient a little longer before getting a close up look.

Thanks for the map ref Joe, good on yer.

There's a generation estimated gauge now. :D

It's basic, yet its a start. Well played Ripple. :ugeek:

Estimated to see about 2.6kWh per for the next 5 hours. That'll do me!

I reckon for just seeing it from the car, head to "Coedely" post code CF39 8BG.

There is a place to park up just off Ely Valley Road.

From there the wind turbine should be the nearest one, and to the left of the pylons.

If your feeling fit there is a footpath from that parking place which will take you very close to it. Alternatively walk up Garth Street and to the north end of Collwyn Street for a better height advantage view.

This will do for a start, 4 day running estimate for generation. Apparently I will be seeing 60kWh+ on Sat & Sun. At the moment I run the house on around 48kWh drawn from Go faster thru the night along with the yield from the PV. Car charging is on top of that.

So simply put, carbon free on the house and about 40 mile range added to car on those days. That'll do! :)
