8,000 BTU is about 2.3kW so would be a small, single room type job. Similar price to UK. I remember when you posted a picture a year ago that they were half price in Turkey vs UK.

Thank you Stinsy, I thought similar. It seems that the game of inflationary crack the whip is ongoing and breaking out in unexpected places.

I guess the local currency doesn't have the purchasing power for imports it had a year ago...

Indeed, consumer electronics have always been pricey out here. We are at about 34TL to the £ at the moment. Even though inflation is outstripping the beneficial exchange rate its the Turks I feel sorry for. No wonder they don't trust banks and many trust gold instead.

We were at one of our fave beach restaurants the other night. 2 seafood starters, 2 chicken main dishes, 1 beer for swmbo and 2 for me. £40, compared to UK it is still a win but nothing like the old days (pre covid). The sea was literally lapping at our feet.

Only been on this year (cooling) for short periods about 5 times.

Been running A/C for 4 weeks straight and incredibly grateful.



Had a glitch on one of the two remaining compressor systems here a few nights back. It stopped cooling then cut out every 20 minutes.

At 2am I'd set my alarm for the morning bus over the mountain, chose the replacement system online, cash in backpack. A bump up from 7 000btu compressor to 9,000btu inverterA+.



Fired it up one more time, bugger me it ran up like a good un and hasn't glitched since! I'll see how it goes when back in Oct. Next failure though it's out of there!

P.S that's £575 which includes fitting.

Need to take a bigger backpack next trip JB and bring a few home at that price, bargain.

Im looking to put a second A2A in in the hallway, its on that 'never shrinking' jobslist somewhere mid table, but the plan is to do it before winter sets in to reduce the log burning.

26c outside at the moment here still, quite windy, but very very warm for here - drying my log stack out a treat but blimey it was a toughie out in the garden today, just not used to that sort of heat down here, 20c ish normally reasonably good in the summer, bonus is we hardly ever see 0c in the winter either, no extremes which suits me.

Our local supermarket at the bottom of our road had a 12,000btu Samsung Inverter system advertised at 30,000 tl.

The sheets change weekly, I always have a look!

That's £731 but would not include fitting. Vestel who I like very much do the same rated at £615 incl fitting. I like the WiFi control idea and the 10 yr warranty. Mostly though since it's bedroom I like the flutter mode the inverter units drop down to on the internal unit when temp reached. Almost silent



The compressor unit played up again this morning. New inverter unit going in on our return Oct.

Well A2A number two has arrived for installing in the hallway.

Pipe extension kit required for this one, making 6m of pipe required. Shame the supplier didnt think to increase the 4m length of the provided 5 core control cable, trip to local CEF for replacement.

Total bill just under £600 for 3.5kw model.

Prob save that cost on a couple of years of less logs being required.

Time get the tools out!

I would have paid a little extra to buy a 6m pipe kit rather than the extension so there ae two less gas connections to leak. I have thought about adding a third one here which would have required a similar extension. I might still do it next year, but the electrical connection extension would not have even occurred to me.
