I'm now not so miffed I bought the expensive cable with the foolproof guide.

I'll try and look it up for you.
I think I bought the expensive version. You spent I guess £50 and I will spend £60-65 ( all cables I've already bought + servtec).

I looked back over a few posts ago and you said,

"USB-Serial-CH340 COM3"

So that means you do have the driver installed.

I'm not sure why your having a problem, mine connected immediately and I've done 3 of them.

How did you strip insulation from the cables? they are quite thin, so I wonder if there is some issue. Other place where something could go wrong is recognition of RS232 colours.

Original bats had the serial soft-locked.

And in between we've had 2 port wiring revisions.

So can see why there is a bit of a mess!

It's even worse if you have a "proper" naff 232 device that wants a -15 to +15V swing, little charge pumps on these usb chips won't do it.

I didn't, other than the outer cover which I used a sharp blade for.. The inners you just put them in the RJ45 and crimp.

Re colours- use a continuity meter to check (or battery and bulb).

Are you viewing the RJ45 and D9 connectors from the right side for pin numbers? D9 does have them marked on the connector if you have good eye sight or magnifying glass.

Edit- you are using consol port?

Yes, but batteryview unlocks it automatically.

Old batteries are RJ11 new are RJ45 so easy to tell which are which.

I could not get battery view to unlock it at all - I had to manually do it with a terminal on mine.

I got rather frustrated by my Installers lack of interest in the 2000C problem.

However, as Pylontech China were keen to see the battery logs I went ahead and bought the ServTec lead.
I wanted a "safe-as-possible" option because I was using BatteryView on a Linux PC - running a Windows Virtual Machine ( aka Wine ).

That setup gave me the break through . . . .
Uncertainty now replaced by a certainty of a defective Temperature sensor . . . . and confirmed by PT China
