Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
Quick question - does anyone know if I can configure the ME3000 battery system so that the Emergency Power Output is on all the time - so that I can connect important electrical loads permanently rather than having to plug them into the emergency circuit when there is a power cut? I thought there was a setting to do that somewhere, but can't find it.

Re: Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
There are two kinds of off-grid output on inverters: EPS and UPS.
If your inverter has a UPS output, it’ll work as you describe. However if your inverter has an EPS output it’ll only be powered when the grid is down. This is a function of the internal architecture of the inverter so not something that can be changed with a setting.
You can however rig up some contactors to switch your critical load from grid to EPS in the event of a power outage.

Re: Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
Im sure I remember seeing the setting somewhere that allows it to be configured as either, but can't remember where it is in the settings.

Re: Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
No, it's just an eps so you need to use a change over contactor on it. Note that means the supply will be interupted on change over.

Re: Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
Thats a shame - I was planning to put non-interuptible loads onto it like the pellet boiler. Thanks for the confirmation. BTW, how is your double-ME3000 setup working? I've just bought an extra one, so I'm planning to get a dual-inverter system running like yours

Re: Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
You still can put your pellet boiler on it! You just need to implement a pair of contactors!ivan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 1:57 pm Thats a shame - I was planning to put non-interuptible loads onto it like the pellet boiler. Re: Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
The change over with the required contractor is automatic and very quick, info is in the Sofar manual, in fact you can specify the speed of switchover.Stinsy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 2:49 pmYou still can put your pellet boiler on it! Re: Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
Wonder if it would be fast enough to fool the boiler

Re: Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
Ivan,
Do you know the minimum critical power interrupt duration is for the boiler ? If the switch over is too slow can you bridge the gap with an inline capacitor on the boiler side of the circuit ?

Re: Sofar ME3000 Emergency output
Totally! With the boiler running switch off-and-on-again its FCU. I'd guess it'd be happy with anything under a second or two. The changeover contactor will be in the region of 0.1-0.2s!
