I remember this "story" from a few months ago and was a classic case of mis-reporting the actual data.

The actual information was that 1/3 of all EV roadside breakdown recoveries were due to tyre faults, whereas for traditional fossil powered cars, tyre faults account for about 15%. And because most EVs don't have a spare wheel, that means a high number of EV roadside breakdowns because of tyre faults end up being flat-bed recoveries.

Less than 4% of EV breakdown recoveries are from running out of charge.

"Electric cars aren't susceptible to suffering nearly as many issues as petrol or diesel models, but if you do have a problem it's more likely to be wheel or tyre related." (Henry Topham, managing director of LV= Britannia Rescue)

There was also another story around the same time which headlined said that new EVs are less reliable than diesel cars, and that Tesla were the least reliable of all. But the actual data showed that these "reliability" issues were mainly software issues and were all mainly fixed via OTA updates.

I can't find anything to justify that, but I can find lots of articles saying other people wildly over-estimate the range limitation "problem" (which isn't one actually.)
Any thoughts?

Whilst i have been driving my EV i have rescued 2 ICE drivers who have run out fuel (there as been no shortage of stations). There is no hope.

I think legacy should be taking Tesla (and BEV's) very seriously now, especially with environmental factors, national policy changes, and FF political issues all starting to focus attention.

Tesla just took first and second place for UK car registrations in the UK for Mch, and that's not for BEV's but all car types, and are sitting in 6th and 7th place for 2022 so far. The ICE age is coming to an end faster than anyone thought possible.

UK Car Registrations for March 2022
8.7kWp PV [2.12kWp SSW + 4.61kWp ESE PV + 2.0kWp WNW PV]
Two BEV's.
Two small A2A heatpumps.
20kWh Battery storage.

I'm seeing more and more Non Tesla BEVs now.

I only notice them because of the green stripe on the registration, I don't even know what model / makes some of them are.
18.7kW PV > 109MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 27MWh generated
6 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 520 m3

Same - although there are Teslas seemingly coming out of almost every driveway, I'm seeing a very noticeably larger number of other non-Tesla EVs now, from a wide range of manufacturers. I even spotted two, yes two, of the Mazda MX-30 BEV, the other day!

Same here on the run down to Glasgow yesterday. Loads of green stripes but unsure what they all were. We shared the ionity stand at Perth with a TM3, polestar and some sort of large EV van, might have been a merc. The game is defo changing.
