They don't have the LR in at the moment so for a dual motor experience the performance was the option. Thinking silver and 18" wheels if I do buy.
It's the range that appeals to me not so much the oomph. If they did a single motor LR I would likely veer that way.

I'll report back! :D

Are you even able to spec the Performance with 18" wheels - I thought the front brakes were bigger and wouldn't fit? Or maybe I'm imagining that? Thought it came with 19s with an option for 20s?

Tesla did make for a short period of time a Long Range Single Motor variant at the beginning of the TM3's life. It was the most efficient variant at the time as you can probably imagine. But it's not available anymore, not even "off menu" like the base-model "Standard Range" variant although I'm not even sure that's available anymore either.

Performance is the unit they have available for test drive in Aberdeen. 18" would have been if I went TM3LR.

Looks like they are hoping for 1st cars off Berlin line Oct 21.

I thought the dual-motor variants where more efficient because the motors are geared differently so the car can supply power to the motor with the most appropriate gearing...

Drove to London yesterday to drop SWMBO off at her daughters who is very close to giving birth to her first child. So only me and the cat in Nowty Towers for the next 3 weeks.

Absolute nightmare, heavy traffic, motorway closures, multiple accidents. It took 4.5 hrs when it can be done normally off peak in about 2 hrs.
Did the journey in the i3, still better than an ICE car because you can crawl forward at very low speeds so don’t need to stop and start so often, but just wish I already had the TM3 because I reckon it would have been a hell of a test of the autopilot system, hopefully would have made the journey much easier if not any quicker.

I found a new Ubitricity lamppost charger which had only just been installed and was not even showing up on the APP map. Usually, they are 4 or 5kw but this one was only giving me about 2kw so I had to abandon my plan to return in the evening and set off this morning at 6am.

I would have left a bit later after breakfast but SWMBO was in one of her snoring fits and I didn’t have my ear plugs, so I just decided to leave. But couldn’t because the door had been deadlocked. I didn’t want to wake anyone up to ask where the key was so I climbed out of the front window. Which later led my step daughters fiancé to a near metal breakdown because he could not understand how I got out of the flat when the door was still deadlocked from the inside. :?

Car was fully charged off solar for journey to London. I paid under £8 for the Ubitricity charge and car is back to 70% today on my solar.

In comparison train journey is circa £50 for one person and that does not include getting to and from the stations and only with luggage you can carry.

Hiya Nowty. Going all the way back to fun number plates - I went on an ickle cruise around the Brecon Beacons on Saturday with another dozen Teslas, and an assortment of plates, including 3 TES's, one of which read MYxxTES, but my favourite was EVxxAGE.

Not only are we entering the EV Age, but they will ironically, kill off the ICE Age.

Mart, is this a Tes club your in for that sort of thing and did you all meet up at a supercharger ?

I bet those plates were quite cheap (like mine) NOxxWTY because they don't or at least didn't mean much to anyone a short time back.

Hiya. Wifey joined the Tesla Owners Group, and when this run came up put our names down straight away. She stayed home though because we now have the extra dog, and we didn't think they'd appreciate a whole day on the backseat. So I took my mate I've known since school, and put him on the insurance, so he did a lot of the driving ...... and sheep dodging.

We met at Sarn services supercharger on the M4. Some travelled in the early hours, some stayed overnight, and I rushed out the house with 20mins to get there ...... because I was nattering on a forum ...... of course!

Fun to be on the receiving end of Tesla Power - on a lovely windy stretch of 60mph road, with 20mph curves, I pushed the accelerator and quickly went from 20 to 60, looked in the rearview, and the massive TMX behind me had gone from about 100m behind, to about 20m and gave me a friendly wave. Boy oh boy those big barges have a lot of power (700hp+ I believe).

My 'electric car' plate EL CAR was really cheap, but accidentally looks like ELON CAR, so I've taken some stick for that.

When I searched the DVLA site I saw that the latest TExxSLA plate was reserved for auction, but left me wondering how many of the 40(ish) plates got issued and are out there? Since none are available, I assume they all got issued, or auctioned in the past?

I just looked, TE71 SLA is in the DVLA auction next month, that 71 would match the actual age plate number of the car I am hopefully picking up next week so it will be interesting to see what it goes for. TE20 SLA is available to buy from other sites, but the asking price is almost £9k.

DId your mate like driving it ?

Yep he had a great time, the only problem was that he seemed to get all the sections where some amount of reversing was necessary, and whilst he's a great driver, better than me, he did find the power in reverse, a bit unnerving. But honestly I don't notice it now, and you can select chill mode, which I thought of too late.

His first section was after I'd driven a winding uphill section to a parking area and look out spot. Solar panels in the valley, and wind turbines across the road from us. He drove a fun filled section, with numerous sheep and small horses on the edge of the road, and when we reached the next spot the car had done 12 miles with an average consumption of -129Wh/Mile (that's not a hyphen, it's a minus!)

Something that I did notice, when some bikers went passed us like we were going backwards with engines screaming, was the noise, or lack of. In fact, every time we were parked up and a Tesla drove in or out, I was really surprised at the lack of noise, since I hadn't been in that situation before. I got the same in the passenger seat, where the steering wheel looks really small, but I've never noticed that when driving.

It's funny what you do, and don't see, depending on what you are doing.
