Heat pump geeks... anyone?

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

This is yet another reason my plans have stalled. In Wales the rule is 'within 3m' of a boundary. With my property (semi-detached) being 7m wide, then a PP is required since units are around 1.5m across. For terraced properties, and possibly even new build detached, which have front parking (not side) and small side areas, again PP is required.

Seems like a stupid rule in Wales. And I'm probbaly pushing my luck with second A2A unit being about 30cm from the boundary, and in front of the house. But planning dept when I asked about the 'air con unit' (don't say heatpump), asked if it would make a significant difference to the appearance of our property ......... well, if I'm allowed to answer that, then it's a no. [But don't tell anyone  ]
For new build (whether detached or other) surely anyone with any sense would include the HP on the main planning application. O the other hand, if a developer has been responsible for the new build then even minimising what is on the planning application may be seen as money saving...

Sorry but in Wales (like England) your not allowed two.

But that 3 metre rule is a bit much.
Heat pumps, what's a heat pump? I've only got air con units, which planning don't seem too concerned about. No idea how they work, honest Guv!

PS. Pondering a third.
8.7kWp PV [2.12kWp SSW + 4.61kWp ESE PV + 2.0kWp WNW PV]
Two BEV's.
Two small A2A heatpumps.
20kWh Battery storage.

After being told by our installers that the monitoring option on our heat pump didn't give anything other than info about the system software, is only for installers and was very expensive to buy, I'm intrigued as to how everyone is monitoring their heat pumps. I'd like to learn more about what mine's doing and how efficient it is.

I've got a Mitsubishi 11.2kW Ecodan with Heat Meter and linked dedicated leccy meter- the Melcloud software allows viewing of energy usage, energy output on an hourly basis (if recent day) or daily basis (for further back). The minute by minute temperatures of input and output to the ASHP can be viewed along with hourly logs of outside temperature.
The minute by minute room temp (where the controller is located if not remote thermo fitted), outside temp, flow temp, return temp, energy consumed, energy produced, and operating mode can be downloaded in csv format for analysis - for any day (maybe period) since first recorded 30-40MB per day iirc - tough I have not played with that much.
