Yeah there's pros and cons for sure on these one box units. I'll go quiet here at home for a while and see how low the electricity bill is for that last trip to Turkey. Drop that past SWMBO and see if it comes back as her idea! We have an excellent dwarf wall site for one of these units in the big lounge or a high up gable end spot for a split system but that one would be tricky although my preference. A lot of it is aesthetics for us. Can very much see the magic benefits of it.nowty wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 1:57 pmI considered them but their efficiencies are just not up there with the split units and they are noisier and bulky units to have inside. They do however offer a pukka DIY solution without the FGAS issues as they are monoblocks with everything sealed.Joeboy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 1:53 pm As a very small aside, this popped up in a search.

KW
Mind you a week ago max kWh was 800w, mananaged 1.71kw one day this week.
On the downside I’m using 150kw a day that heat the house.
Better than the cold spell in December where I had 4 consecutive days at 170+
Managing to get slightly more efficient, although when a room is 24c and SHMBO says it’s chilly you kind of want to give up

Even Stinsy got it wrong as its kW and not KW.Yuff wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:36 pmKW

kW is the power used the moment. kWh is the volume used over an hour.Yuff wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:36 pmKW

I am supposing you have used 150kWh of power through a day cycle?
Divide that by 24 hours and you are using an average of 6.25kW at any single point in time. I hope that makes sense?

The best I’ve seen my solar produce was in October at 4.2 kWh

Re: January?
The 650W is when it is throttled down. The heat output is difficult to measure but claims vary between CoP of 3-5, so at 650W it is possibly outputting 2.4kW-ish. In really cold conditions the outside unit ices up and it has to use energy defrosting itself.Joeboy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 1:25 pmThat is truly astonishing, 650W in 6.6kW heat out. I really am going to have to seriously consider one for the house.

Re: January?
Getting better, up to over 5kW+ coming in at times now.
Roll on mid Feb when the shading really drops off here at Nowty Towers.

Re: January?
I've been able to start shifting some usage back into the day, less overnight dishwasher runs on off-peak.
It definitely feels like a corner has been turned!
3 vertical panels are maxed out at near 1.1kW right now, even the near flat garage array is pushing 1.3kW.
