Re: New wind record?
Did we get a new record yesterday? https://grid.iamkate.com/ seems to suggest that we may have.
"New wind power records are set regularly, and between 6:30pm and 7:00pm on 15th December 2024 British wind farms averaged a record 22.25GW of generation."

Re: New wind record?
Not officially recognized by NESO - at least not yet - they're still saying record wind was 21st Dec 2023 with 21.813GW

(tagged windrecord for searching)
Yep, just had it flashed up on my NESO App for 15th Dec 2024, and on a low demand Sunday too.
EDIT - The nukes down for refuelling probably helped.

Re: New wind record?
Could be another chance today:
22.2GW on Iamkate, and high demand from other countries and still burning plenty of gas (13GW)

Re: New wind record?
Question: How would that affect turbines that are turned off by the operator and not the National Grid? My answer would be “nothing at all, because they were not curtailed”.SimonSays wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 10:23 amhttps://wastedwind.energy/2024-12-07Oliver90owner wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:09 pm Maybe some turbines shut down due to the high winds?
Re: New wind record?
Its very close, its the second highest day ever on the gridwatch.templar historic data so it might be.

5hrs this morning net zero CO2 ie exports greater than gas production. AND at the same time wind curtailment4-5GW
