Hopefully the heat meter error can be fixed simply
That and just letting the heat pump get on with it without human input
Whit ye saying like?
Like you need to ask!
We are still running the wbs in the evening and exporting a little power. We like to cook on the wbs which is a trick the HP can't perform.
Like the hygga reference. Emotive! Glad you've got 21, lovely. We had 11 outdoors i think, which was grand.Bugtownboy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 5:52 pm Joe, even if we had a HP we’d still have the WBS on in the evening for the jolly nature of it.
Not to make you jealous, but the house has been sitting at 21o today with no heating - apart from belting solar gain and an external temp of 10o.
We now have the WBS in the lounge lit just for the comfty/Hygga vibe.
Enjoying the warts and all thread - I’m sure when you’ve got the 3G and ironed the minor wrinkles from, what looks like, a belting install, you’ll be very content and comfortable.
Cojmh, I'd appreciate the company name in Manchester you bought from? If I have to do these myself I might find the Aberdeen supplier politically unwilling to supply direct to me.cojmh wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 9:10 pmLikewise I didn't find anyone locally who knew about them and what annoyed me was the constant trying to get me to change to something easier for them. In the end I ordered from a company in Manchester and with their delivery I was really happy with the price. The other thing I found when trying to get quotes is no-one responds promptly and on average it took 3 calls to get a response on anything .... so I didn't bother getting a company to fit.Joeboy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 8:30 pm
Well.done Sir! Nobody (4).trades I have shown them to are aware of them. It looks like they truly were built for a spec rolled back.
Where's the biggest impact for you with them?
Apparently my glazers have the ordered sample of full 90 (not R) as ordered a month and a half ago. Looking forward to seeing it. I'm trying to keep in centre of mind to allow time for these guys. Their skills etc are good but not within 3G world and the price is right. I'm looking for 2 out of 3 so that's price & quality. Time can slip. Once they're here they'll get the same filled rolls as the ashp guys and plenty kettle.
Incidentally, the Manchester company told me that the frames are all made up in Scotland then shipped all over the UK .... so that might have been why I couldn't find anyone that knew about them.
The weight and size of the frames is noticeable and I have installed the first window myself (with a helping pair of hands) and over the course of the weekend/Monday I will install the other and the door.
I like the black metal between the sheets of glass - it looks better than the silver in my opinion and the middle pane of glass was pretty much invisible. The only reason I could see it was because of the etched details in the corner of each pane of glass.
When fitting the glass units into the frame I was amazed at how well they fit. There was no need for any packers at all and the bridging clips in the frame where just a very snug fit. In the past fiddling with packers and trying to centre the glass was a real PITA.
I haven't noticed the energy saving yet as the house is still partially open to the elements - but I will let you know once everything is sealed up. Even with the house being partially open the gable wall end upgrade has been very noticeable .... even my wife commented on the house being warmer already and she really does not notice things (took 2 days to notice the 6ft Christmas tree had been put up despite walking past it 20 times a day!! ).
But anyway - big thank you for the heads up on the windows.
Top man, thank you. Same company as I'm using up here. 3g guys phoned this morning. They are coming this afternoon to measure.cojmh wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 8:16 am Hey JB,
This is the company that I used: Window Supply Company
From talking to them they have a few offices around the North and also actually make the units in Scotland. If you look at the bottom of the webpage they have a list of trade counters some of which will be a lot closer to you. I have mostly been dealing with Manchester and Sheffield.
I have found them to be super responsive and helpful (although that might vary according to the trade counter) and they did a great job with delivery - although were 2 days after their estimate.
If you have sizes already measured from the other company then I would just double check them and use those. When measuring my windows and doors I took 6 measurements (3 horizontal - bottom, middle, top and 3 vertical - left, middle, right) and gave them the smallest dimension in each orientation minus 10mm. Every unit arrived and fitted like a glove.
They also do fittings too but I decided to get those locally instead.
Hope that helps. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
