Which springs have you used? I have previously considered some for a battery enclosure rebuild.
10x 405W JA Solar panels (4.05kWp) @ 5 degrees
3x 405W Longi panels (1.22kWp) @ 90 degrees
16.5kWh DIY LifePo4 battery

The 8mm (internal diameter) Yellow Extra Heavy Load ones, no tech spec on them but you cannot compress them with your hands. By pressing down on them on top of a weighing scale I can get about 40kg with only a couple of mm of compression. I reckon by winding them 1/3 or 1/2 way in its going to be close to the required 300kg compression force.

I'm going to do a step by step guide and only using easily obtained off the shelf stuff.

Nowty,

I got your compression to be -10mm to deliver 300kg force using this calculator https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/spring and working on your springs being Indexa EHLY-16x51 YELLOW DIE SPRING - EXTRA HEAVY LOAD with 18 coils.

Based on what you mentioned from your scales test I have probably got the wrong spring but thought you might like to run the calculator yourself to check as its pretty intuitive.

Repacking the old cells or have you bought some LF280k's?

There is another website which sells the same springs and gives the "Rigidity" as a number but no units so I've no idea. I just bought the strongest ones going that will fit on an 8mm threaded bar.

I guess I could put my weighing scales in as a temp battery and wind it up to the max scale of 150kg and then measure the spring length. :xx:

Those 64mm long springs compressed to 55mm give a 150kg force.
So I make that the 64mm spring needs to be compressed to 46mm to give a 300kg force. :oO:

NOTE - The above has been edited to correct my miss measuring. :whistle:

I adjusted the nuts to make sure ALL springs were equal length at 150kg force before measuring.
