That is outstandingFintray wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 7:34 pmIn previous years we used oil for our heating along with the WBS, to try to give an approximate figure I would compare the cost of oil to give the equivalent amount of heat the HP has produced for the year.Joeboy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 6:46 pmThat is brilliant Iain! Do you have figures for the year before to compare it? I am agog at what these units do. In particular in lower irradiated areas like ours. Solar gone? Yeah, yeah!
We only had about 4kWh solar today. That leaves 4.8kWh to pay for. (33p). Although I'm exporting at half load the noo. So that makes it another zero cost day. Sorry I'm.banging on about it but it's surreal this early in the year.

So 30640kWh from HP would need c.3404 litres if oil boiler was 90% efficient, avg. cost of oil =60p/L which gives £2144 (incl. VAT).
£2144 for heating only, whereas with solar PV, battery, HP and Ripple my electricity credit balance has increased by £486.44 over the year for all my electricity use (18588kWh).
P.S. WBS has not been used since HP was installed.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
How is this possible? Me n SWMBO were looking at blind colours online at 08.30hrs this morning and ordered some samples. At 15.30 hrs they drop through the door.
That was completely surreal and possibly a glitch in the matrix.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Are they not the ones you ordered Tuesday???
Re: ASHP & triple glazing
No they were pleated blinds, i misordered. These were defo ordered this morning. Just shows. it can work! There's a level of complexity in blinds that I'm just not enjoying or engaging with. Roll on the 3G!

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Well that worked out well. We picked the least hideous blind material together and i've priced them up. Note going forward kids, don't pay the rent on some companies premises unless you absolutely have to.
Scottish shutter company £7,703 all electric (self collect, self install).
Garioch Blinds £2,106, all manual (company delivers & installs).
Blinds 2 go & Garioch combo, 2 manual trapezoidal verts and 3 electric rollers £1,638 (company installs the traps, I install the rest, all delivered). No blind on side door.
That is an incredible spread of costs (4.7). Wilder even than the original 3G hunt (3). The moral of my tale is, dig, dig, dig find it ALL out then pay the acceptable price.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Got to be done, not sure what the Scottish shutter company was trying to achieve, anybody willing to spend that amount won't be the sort of person that installs them themselves.
Re: ASHP & triple glazing
I asked them to quote self fitting. Not a big deal as they sell a lot to the Scottish Islands remotely. As a throwaway the fella said it was worth about £500 to diy it.
The interesting pov that I see is that the person who will diy it is the person that will have the money

Personally I wanted as level a quote field as I could get for comparison. As has been the case times without count SWMBO made the critical key unlocking suggestion as to why not do the 2 traps with sloped verts? I was already out the door and spending £2.5k on the traps alone. Never underestimate the powers of SWMBO.
