Sorry to see all the issues you are having and thank goodness you have got posters on here who know what they are talking about, plus you are pretty knowledgeable to start with.
For a fleeting moment I thought about getting other quotes for our replacement pumps but seeing all the issues you are having I think it is best to stick with an installer who I have confidence in rather than searching for different manufacturers/better price.
We have a buffer tank in an outbuilding where the boiler is also, the engineer is going to remove the boiler and move the tank, it might be possible to swap the tank for a larger buffer tank, as it doesn’t seem that large, is that something I should consider :?:

@Yuff

Unless you really need a buffer tank get shot of it, less is beter apparently, hopefully your installer will know. If you've got an installer that your confident of, then it's probably not worth changing. Just get really informed about what, sand how they should be doing it. Had I known how to do a power flush, I'd have been asking on day one why they hadn't done one.

Yes, we have hot water. SGS got the plumber round that did the original install, he swapped over the pipes at the ASHP, he blamed the trainees. At one point in the install I asked him if the primaries had worked out the correct way, he said he hadn't yet checked.

We now need to get the system flushed, get the replacement ASHP, fitted and then get insulated properly. Not sure when this will happen though.

Jesus they are really putting you though it arent they.
Glad the problem was found eventually and getting sorted. What a difference a professional makes.
I know issues like this do happen with normal boiler installs but installs like this do nothing for furthering the heatpump cause do they.
Fingers crossed for an expedient refit.

+1 for buffer tank will very-likely reduce efficiency!

The plumber that came yesterday, was supposed to be calling in tonight around 5pm on his way home to check and top up the water pressure, as there was clearly a lot of air in the system yesterday.

So when my wife massaged to say there was a puddle in the utility room, I said don't worry, the plumber will be there soon, but he never showed.

SGS said they'd get someone here first thing in the morning, sorry but we're all at work, you'll get someone here for 16:30 tomorrow, although I probably should have said tonight, as this is getting ridiculous! It also means the only hot water we have again is what is in the tank.

I've also noticed they haven't deburred the cut pipe!

Jesus!

If they've not deburred 1, you know they are all like it.
That crimped joint is like the soldered joints i had fall apart.
At this point, i think asking them to rip it all out and do it properly is not uncalled for.
Every joint is going to have to be checked, and even then you cant know if the ends are deburred, and any will have a big impact on increasing turbulent flow.

I really hope you put a boot to them over it all. One cock up after another does not bring confidence for the rest of it.
The one saving grace is that you are the one paying and can say if its unacceptable or not and withold until you are satisfied.
100% go full Joe on them, but then watch whoever does the work like a hawk.
It should not have to be that way, but i can tell you from experience no one wants to touch a bodged job with a barge pole to fix someone elses mistakes.
They will just insist on ripping out and doing again.
Id be telling the heatgeek guy that he needs to personally do the install and no one else unless also heat geek qualified.
They have a standard to keep.

From what you say it sounds like the entire company gets work off of this one guys accreditation. That would be fine if the work was to the same standard. Its not if it isnt.

One this i do know is that for those pressfit joints to have a valid warranty, there should be witness marks on the pipe to guarantee the pipe was inserted fully.
Ive done it as standard as a diyer for many years now. Even have the habit for some types of electrical wiring.
Just makes sense and gives extra peace of mind, especially given how easy joints can slip before a single person can cinch down a fitting.

Fuming...

Hope it gets sorted mate.

I remember when we had a plumber in to do the top floor bathroom. All went ok ish. Daughter has a bath, pulls the plug to drain the bath. Next thing ya know Niagara falls 2 floors below running down the bi-folds.

The numpty hadn't connected the waste and a full bath had poured through the house and found it's way along the RSJ's that were put in for the knock through and doors in the kitchen!

Don't get me started on the cowboys who did the knock through and door opening. Almost brought the back of the house down and roof!!

Think id be at the stage of sacking the company now and formally advising them i would be employing a different firm to rip out their shoddy work due to continual lack of merchantable quality, and would be employing another contractor at their expense to remidy the situation, pursuing costs through court as neccasary.

Id also be getting onto their 'trade' associations they belong to and making formal complaints about their abilitys or lack thereof.
